Ethiopian regime soldiers and army units from the Ogaden National Liberation Army had been engaged in a brief fight on Sunday, according to a report by the Ogaden News Agency.
The report said residents fleeing the battle in Birqot district of Degahbur told an ONA reporter seeing the bodies of 17 Ethiopian soldiers and three high-ranking officers, as well as 21 wounded soldiers being airlifted to Jigjiga Hospital.
The report said ONA reporters in Jigjiga also confirmed the arrival of wounded soldiers in Jigjiga Hospital.
