Tanzanian police said yesterday that 14 Ethiopians have been found dead in an abandoned vehicle on the Tanzania-Zambia highway.
A police commander told IPP Media in Tanzania that there were a total of 26 Ethiopians in the vehicle but 14 were found dead already while five have been sent to the hospital. Seve have survived.
Police also said they are indications that the Ethiopian migrants were en route to South Africa.
The migrants were crammed into a small vehicle and believed to have died of suffocation.
Every year, hundreds of Ethiopian youth make the perilous journey to South Africa in search of jobs, but many lose their life along the way.
