A bomb attack hit a lodge in Gondar

ESAT News (April 25, 2017)

A bomb was thrown at the Lodge du Château in the city of Gondar Monday night injuring five people.

No party claimed responsibility for the attack.

The injured include three security officers, a guard for the lodge and a foreigner.

Sources say the lodge is frequented by tourists and expats.

Gunfire could be heard in the city few hours after the bomb attack and soldiers packed in trucks roaming the city.

Monday’s grenade attack was the eleventh in a series of attacks this year in the Amhara region where anti-government sentiment runs high. In January, grenade explosions hit the Entasol Hotel in Gondar and the Grand Hotel in Bahir Dar. One person was killed and 19 others were wounded in that attack.
