Ethiopia: Capital hit by shortage of fuel, water

ESAT News (March 22, 2017)

Ethiopia’s capital Addis Ababa has been hit by a serious shortage fuel and water outages. Residents say they spent hours at taxicab stands and bus terminals while drivers were forced to stay the night at gas stations waiting for the next delivery of fuels.

Authorities deny any shortage of fuel except saying that there was a resumption of mixing benzene and ethanol that has been interrupted for a long time.

The Ethiopian Fuel Supply Agency says enough fuel has been imported through the ports of Sudan and Djibouti, according to state media. Residents say they were perplexed by official statements when the reality is on the contrary.

Adding fuel to fire, the city has also been hit by water outages owing to drying water wells that serve the city.
