The Ethiopian National Movement (ENM), a coalition of four political groups fighting the TPLF-led tyrannical called for the release of Dr. Merara Gudina, chairman of the Oromo Federalist Congress and all prisoners of conscience.

Dr. Gudina was arrested recently upon his return from Europe, where he testified against the regime and spoke against the human rights violations and political repressions in his country.

ENM said in a statement that Dr. Gudina was a symbol of peaceful political struggle and one of the leading figures of the opposition movement.

It said the arrest of the politician is yet another evidence of the brutality of the regime.

ENM called on Ethiopians who wish to see freedom, justice and equality to join the struggle waged by the coalition.

It said the regime should release all prisoners of conscience and pave the way for an all inclusive national dialogue to find solutions to the intricate political problems in the country.

The coalition also called on the international community and countries that are allied with the regime to stand with the people of Ethiopia and exert pressure on the government to come to the negotiating table.
