Dozens arrested in Amhara region and Addis Ababa

ESAT News (November 7, 2016)

The Ethiopian regime intensified its mass arrest on dissents and protesters especially after the declaration of a marshal law early in October.

In the Amhara region and in the capital Addis Ababa dozens of members of an opposition political party and others suspected of leading the uprising against the regime were arrested over the weekend.

A source told ESAT on the phone that about 40 members of the All Ethiopian Unity Organization have been arrested on Sunday.

The source also said a warrant has been issued on 180 individuals to be executed wherever they were found.

He said family members of opposition parties have also been targeted in the recent mass arrest. Family and friends of Zemene Mehiretu, a leader of the All Amhara Unity Organization has specifically been targeted in the recent campaign.

The whereabouts of Zemene Mehiretu, who also has an execution warrant on his head, is not known.

The Ethiopian regime has been using the state of emergency to further its brutal  crackdown on dissidents and opposition political parties.
