Security forces kill three in central Ethiopia

A couple and one other person were killed on over the weekend as security forces used lethal force to suppress anti-government protests in west Arsi, central Ethiopia.

 

Security forces shot and killed a husband and wife as well as one other person in Bulchana town of west Arsi, a region that has seen deadly violence since last week.

 

The couple did not take part in the protests but were killed when they run into the security forces, who were searching for agitators of the protests, a local source told ESAT. The funeral of the couples have turned into protest rally where security forces killed the third person.

 

Some residents of the town told ESAT that they feared for their lives as the regime’s forces use deadly force against protesters.

 

Protests reignited in east and west Arsi after hundreds of people were killed on Sunday October 2, 2016 at an annual Oromo religious festival in Bishoftu.
