Local media reported that the Ethiopian regime has purchased 5 million dollars worth of HIV testing equipment from a supplier in China that was not registered with the World Health Organization.

The equipment purchased from Beijing Wantai Biological Pharmacy were imported without the operation manuals, resulting in the government to incur additional cost for training and other operations.

The second round purchase from the company that was expected to rectify the problems seen in the first purchase was rather found to be in a similar predicament.

The reports also said the government was forced to spend additional money towards the training of about 20,000 lab techs and the preparation of operation manuals.
