Thousands of Ethiopian troops have entered the Buma State of South Sudan to secure the release of children abducted by the Murle ethnic group in a cross border raid last month.

Ethiopian Ambassador to South Sudan, Fesseha Shawel Gebre told the press that the Ethiopian troops would pursue the abductors until all children were accounted for, according to a report by the Sudan Tribune.

Close to half of the children, 56, were recovered a week ago as a result of what reports say was negotiations with the abductors.

Armed Murle tribesmen from South Sudan crossed into the Gambella region of Ethiopia last month and killed over 200 Ethiopian Nuers, abducted over a 100 children and raided thousands of cattle.
