Sudan withdraws troops from Ethiopian territory

Sudanese forces that entered 40 kms into Ethiopian border on Sunday have reportedly withdrawn Tuesday evening.

ESAT’s sources say the Sudanese troops left after they had burnt crops. There was no reports of clashes with the Ethiopian army that was deployed to the border area.

Sources say the Sudanese forces withdrew after Ethiopian officials held talks with Sudanese officials in Khartoum.

There was no official statement from both governments.

Disputed territories along the border between the two countries have been the source of past skirmishes between the Sudanese troops and farmers on the Ethiopian side.

The Ethiopian regime has given large swaths of Ethiopian land to the Sudanese in deal condemned by the Ethiopian farmers on the border area who said the land is historically theirs.
