ESAT News (September 12, 2017)

Heavy rains over flooded the Awash River displacing thousands of locals in Amibara, Afar region. Reports say up to 3,000 people might have been displaced by the flooding that resulted from days of heavy down pour.

The flooding from the River also inundated the Sodere Resort Hotel. Guests have reportedly been stranded since Friday. Some have been sent home after their cars had been rescued with a construction crane. The Hotel, which is partly damaged by the flooding, is temporarily closed.

There is no report of lives lost in the flooding which locals say was the worst they have seen.
