Ethiopia: Bomb attack in Bahir Dar kills one

ESAT News (April 28, 2017)

There was yet another bomb attack in Bahir Dar on Thursday night killing one person and injuring four others, in a string of grenade attacks in the Amhara region in recent weeks.

The bomb was thrown near a gas station. The deceased as well as the injured were employees of the gas station, according to ESAT’s sources from Bahir Dar. It is the second death in a grenade attack in the region where there is  a strong anti-government sentiment. Security forces shot and killed at least two hundred anti-government protesters in the two cities last summer.

No party claimed responsibility for the attack.

A dozen grenade attack hit hotels and other targets in Gondar and Bahir Dar since January, triggering the U.K. and U.S. governments to issue travel warning to citizens.

The Embassy of the United States in Addis Ababa on Thursday warned citizens of the dangers of travelling to Gondar.
