Ethiopia: Group claims responsibility for attack against military targets

ESAT News (March 22, 2017)

Patriotic Ginbot 7, an armed group fighting the ruling TPLF regime, said its forces were behind the series of attacks in the last two weeks against government targets in northern Ethiopia.

PG7 said in a statement it sent to ESAT that the attacks against police stations, army barracks and operatives of the regime in several localities in northern Gondar were carried out by its forces.

The group said the guerrilla operations were just the beginning of the armed campaign to remove a ruthless regime and replace it by a democratic one.

It said the support  by the people in providing intelligence and logistics to its fighters were instrumental in carrying out the attacks.

The front said the people of Amhara have made it clear that they have rejected tyranny. The task ahead, the front said, is to broaden the fight against the brutal regime to other areas in the country.

PG7 said the major source of unimaginable suffering in the country is a minority regime that treats all others as a second class citizens. The solution, it said, is to remove the regime from the yoke of the oppressed people of Ethiopia once and for all.
