Ethiopians, Britons and MPs gathered today in front of 10 Downing Street to celebrate the 62nd birthday of Andargachew Tsige, an Ethiopian born British citizen who is on a death row in Ethiopian.

Andy, a well-known critic of the Ethiopian regime, was kidnapped at a Yemeni airport in 2014 and rendered to Ethiopia. He was sentenced to death in absentia in 2009 while he was living in London.

The gathering of MPs and supporters of Andy in front of the office of UK’s prime minister demand for the immediate release of the political prisoner.

Jeremy Korbyn, leader of the labour party, wrote a letter to UK’s prime minister, Theresa May,  demanding the immediate release of Andy.

“We will keep demonstrating, we’ll keep fighting, we’ll keep campaigning until this man is brought home,” said Emily Thornberry, shadow secretary of state.

Tom Brake, Shadow Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, and labour union representatives have also attended the demonstration.

Mr. Tsige is held incommunicado and is denied access lawyers.
