ESAT News (December 8, 2016)
Security forces have reportedly been arresting people suspected of being supporters of the now jailed leader of the Oromo Federalist Congress, Dr. Merara Gudina.
Dr. Gudina was arrested last week upon his return from Europe, where he testified against the regime and spoke against the human rights violations and political repressions in his country.
Sources told ESAT that several people were arrested over the last one week in Oromo towns surrounding the capital Addis Ababa. They were arrested suspected of being supporters of Dr. Gudina and members of OFC.
In a similar news, security forces arrested at least 50 youth in Haiq, south Wollo. The reasons for the arrest were not known.
The martial law declared by the regime gives unlimited power to regime’s security to arrest without court warrant or take whatever measures they deem right against people they arrest.
