Regime security forces killed four people in Tis Abay town, northern Ethiopia while a group of youth in Bahir Dar threw grenades into the residence of government officials and in the vicinity of the municipality.
A leader of an anti-regime uprising in the town of Tis Abay, Mikru Berhanu, and three students were reportedly killed by security forces while several youth, including another leader of the protest, Dessie Tadesse were detained, a source told ESAT on the phone.
In Bahir Dar, a group of protesters threw hand grenades into a residence of government officials and near the municipality. It was not clear if there were casualties from the grenade attacks.
Several people were also detained at the city’s court where residents were protesting at a hearing for businessmen who were detained and brought to court for closing their businesses in protest against the state of emergency declared by the regime following a wave protests in the country.
Bahir Dar and Gondar in the Amhara region have seen deadly anti-government protests since this summer. Defying the state of emergency, residents of the two cities went on days of strikes protesting the new measures by the regime.
