Gondar, Bahir Dar strike again

Residents of Gondar and Bahir Dar in the Amhara region went on strike for the third time in the last three months of protest against the TPLF regime demanding the release of jailed compatriots and calling for an end to the tyrannical regime.

Government offices and other institutions were shut down on Monday, the start of a six-day strike to show the continuity of their protest against the regime, organizers told ESAT.

Security forces in Bahir Dar tried to force businesses to open for service but was in vain as the owners the businesses refused to comply.

Gondar was at standstill on Monday after a similar strike hit the city for the third time, according to residents who talked to ESAT. The residents of Gondar called on the regime to stop the killings and release all political prisoners.

The protest against the TPLF regime that began in July in Gondar and Bahir Dar show no sign of dying down. At least 50 people were killed in July in one weekend alone as regime forces shoot at peaceful protesters indiscriminately.
