Ethiopians residing in London, Frankfurt and Stockholm took over their Embassies on Thursday in protest to the killings and widespread human rights violations by the regime in their home country.

The protesters took down current national flag and replaced it with the original tricolor that does not bear the regime’s emblem. The protesters also removed the portrait of the late dictator Meles Zenawi.

The protesters who hold the embassies for few hours chanted slogans denouncing the minority regime dominated by the Tigray People’s Liberation Front. They demanded that the killings and mass arrest be stopped immediately.

Ethiopians living in the diaspora have been staging demonstrations in major cities across the globe to draw attention to the human rights violations in Ethiopia.
