A security officer at Ambo University, in a town few miles from the capital Addis Ababa, shot and killed two federal police officers and injured three others.

A resident of Ambo town who wish to remain anonymous told ESAT that the alleged killer was still at large as of Wednesday.

The source said the officer, who hails from Afar region, was unhappy about his work schedule in the just ended month of Ramadan, a month of fasting for Muslims. There was an apparent disagreement over the schedule given to him by the police that got in the way of his religious rituals, according to sources.

The officer, whose name has not been disclosed opened fire on Monday at the Ambo University campus killing the two police officers and seriously injuring three others.

The shooting took place a day after the graduation ceremony and almost all students had left the campus on that day.
