ESAT News (April 7, 2016)
A political prisoner for ten years in the notorious prison in Ambo died after serious injuries sustained from beatings, his mother told ESAT on Thursday.
Getu Bekele Tolosa was imprisoned by the regime for what the mother said was political reasons. She said her son was then blamed for the recent fire that broke out at the prison, which she believed was the reason prison officials beat him to death.
The mother said she visited her son last week and he was fine. She said she went to the hospital where she was told that her son was admitted. On arrival, all she found was his dead body with injuries to his head and extremities.
There have been numerous reports of torture in Ethiopian prisoners where TPLF agents beat, torture and kill political prisoners with impunity.
