Ethiopian troops leave South Sudan

South Sudanese media reported on Wednesday that the Ethiopian troops who crossed into South Sudan’s territory last month have left the country on Sunday.

The troops were in Pochalla, South Sudan to secure the release of over 100 Ethiopian children abducted by the Murle tribesmen last month.

The estimated 3000 troops who crossed into the South Sudanese border last month did not recover any children from Pochalla, Radio tamazuj reported quoting its sources.

Ethiopia however said on Monday that 44 children have been recovered after negotiations with the abductors.

The Murle tribesmen last month crossed into the Gambella region of Ethiopia and killed over 200 people, kidnaped over a 100 children and raided thousands of cattle.
