59 political prisoners break out of a prison in Konso, south Ethiopia

Reliable sources told ESAT that 59 political prisoners broke out of a prison in Konso, south Ethiopia on Friday.

A source who wish to remain anonymous told ESAT that the prisoners who broke out on Friday were detained by the regime’s forces following the protest few months ago by the people of Konso, who demanded for the Konso to be upgraded to a zonal administration status.

Witnesses told ESAT that the residents of Konso were giving covers to the prisoners as security forces were trying to arrest them.

Hundreds of people were arrested and incarcerated by the regime for demanding political and administrative rights in Konso two months ago.
