Police shot dead two fleeing prisoners

Oct. 27 (ESAT News)–Police shot and killed two prisoners who were being taken to a first instance court around the headquarters of ground force in Addis Ababa after they tried to escape.

Police officers were taking the two prisoners to prisoners when the duo made an attempt to flee but the officers opened fire killing both of them instantly.

Eye witnesses said that the officers sprayed barrage bullets. A private car was also reportedly hit with a bullet and damaged as a result.

A recent report released by the Ministry Health claimed that nearly 62 percent inmates in various jails across the country suffer from mental health problems as a result of solitary confinement, overcrowded jails and lack of adequate health facilities and services.
