OLF deplores Gerba killings

Oct. 26 (ESAT News) The Oromo Liberation Front led by Br. General Kemal Gelchu has condemned the recent killing of innocent Muslims in Gerba. In a strongly worded statement the front issued yesterday, OLF said that the extrajudicial executions in Gerba exposed the brutality of the TPLF once more.

OLF noted that the legitimate demands of Ethiopian Muslims were even guaranteed under the nominal constitution adding that the titular Prime Minister should held responsible for the loss of lives. OLF demanded the people of Ethiopia to set aside religious differences and stand with Ethiopian Muslims.

The international community should help stop the atrocities by unequivocally condemning the bloodshed, the release said.

In an exclusive interview with ESAT, Br. General Kemal Gelchu pointed out that the reason why OLF supports the demands of Ethiopian Muslims is because it is legitimate and rightful.

Meanwhile, Abiye Yasin, chairman of the Ethiopian Muslim Association in Belgium said that the killings in Gerba were an extension of the repressive measures that the regime is taking against Ethiopians.

It is sad to witness such atrocities and killings against defenseless civilians, he said adding that Ethiopian Muslims have no choice but to continue waging their nonviolent struggle.
