OPDO holding another emergency meeting

Oct. 21 (ESAT News)The crisis within the Oromo People’s Democratic Organization (OPDO) has reportedly escalated as the party is holding another round of emergency meeting in Adama.

In a sign of widening rift, OPDO has held series of meetings where factions have failed to agree of fundamental issues. ESAT sources have indicated that there are four factions vying to emerge as dominant.

Two weeks ago Minister of Civil Services Junedin Sado was purged from OPDO and EPRDF  leadership position and was relegated to continue as ordinary member of OPDO. Following the death of Meles, OPDO leaders are said to have agreed on the succession plan.

A few days ago an anonymous member of the Central Committee OPDO alleged on VOA that the party was engaged in bitter infighting and blamed the TPLF for deliberately inflaming the situation  to further weaken OPDO, which was set up by the TPLF two decades ago.
