Meles’ Widow Incensed By a Radio Show Orders Suspension

The Ethiopicalink call-in radio show on Radio Fana-one of the multitudes of TPLF owned companies under the EFFORT umbrella-is suspended after Azeb Mesfin the widow of the late Prime Minister is incensed by the content of their broadcast during the 12 day long mourning period preceding Meles’ funeral.

The radio show has been on air syndicated on Radio Fana for the past five years; and has largely been famous for its hip entertainment broadcasts. The Saturday program aptly named –“Insider Sources” has a huge listener bases and is famous for gossip type programs.

After Meles’ death has been officially announced on August 20 all regular programs on the radio were suspended until after the Prime Minister is buried. Producers of Ethiopicalink received a special waiver to produce and broadcast a program related to the death of the Prime Minister.

They broadcasted on their special program on August 25 where they disclosed that the news of Meles’ death was passed via Skype by the late Prime Minister’s oldest daughter Semehal to the family back in Addis.

According to sources, Azeb was incensed by the disclosure and had admonished the General Manager of the radio station –Woldu Ymsel. The manager has suspended the radio show.

The producers of Ethiopicalink maintain their innocence. However they are setting out to apologize to the late Prime Ministers’ wife and the radio station to get back on air soon.
