The President of Genocide Watch has confirmed that his organization had known that Prime Minister Meles Zenawi died on July 14th, 2012, contrary to the official announcement that declared that the PM died on Monday, August 20, 2012.
Professor Gregory Stanton, who leads the global alliance to end genocide, said in an exclusive interview with the Ethiopian Satellite Television (ESAT) that the most likely cause of the official delay to announce the passing away of the former PM was a bitter power struggle within the Tigray People’s Liberation Front. Prof. Stanton noted that the legacies of Meles Zenawi were full of atrocities, gross human rights violations, mass displacement and minority rule. He says his divide and rule system has greatly fractured Ethiopia and at the detriment of national unity.
